Getting Started
At Glitter Unique, we’re committed to giving makers the tools, materials, and support they need to create with confidence. Below you’ll find answers to our most commonly asked questions—from product details to shipping, returns, and everything in between. If you ever need extra help, we’re just an email away at hello@glitterunique.com.
Are your products solvent resistant?
Yes! All of our products are manufacturer-verified as solvent resistant, and we also test our glitters in suspension base to confirm performance.
Please remember that even solvent-resistant glitters can occasionally experience color fade or curling, and certain suspension bases may intensify these effects. Because every formula is different, we cannot test every product in every base or guarantee identical results in all situations.
To ensure the perfect fit for your project, we recommend purchasing a small sample before investing in a larger quantity.
Do Glitter Unique products come by weight or by volume?
Our 1-teaspoon sample option is the only dry product measured by volume. These samples are great for testing—and many makers find a teaspoon is enough to create a few bottles of polish.
All other dry products, as well as our liquid pigments, are sold by weight.
Our Suspension Bases and Clears are sold by volume.
Do you sell your products in larger amounts than listed online?
Yes! We offer discounted bulk pricing when inventory allows. Email us for a quote and availability.
Do you offer samples?
Yes—many of our pigments, glitters, and specialty ingredients are available for purchase in small sample sizes so you can test performance before purchasing larger amounts.
How long does it take for my order to ship?
Most orders ship within 1–3 business days. Processing times may be slightly longer during sales or high-volume periods.
You’ll receive your tracking number by email as soon as your package leaves our facility.
I'm in a rush, can you overnight my order?
Orders placed with UPS Next Day Air shipping must be submitted by 1:00 PM Eastern Time for same-day shipment. Orders placed after this cutoff will ship the following business day.
Note that Next Day Air orders that ship on Friday will arrive Monday.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide!
International customers are responsible for any customs duties, VAT, or import fees required by their country. Delivery times vary based on the destination and customs processing.
Can I ship to a different address than I entered?
Please double-check that your shipping address is complete and accurate at checkout. We ship quickly, and incorrect addresses may delay your order.
Once your package leaves our facility, tracking is emailed to you. From that point forward, it is the customer’s responsibility to monitor the shipment and ensure the package can be received. Glitter Unique cannot be held responsible for lost, stolen, or misdelivered packages.
If a package is returned to us due to an incorrect or incomplete address, or because the carrier was unable to deliver, reshipping will require an additional shipping fee. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
My order is incorrect and/or damaged.
If your order arrives damaged, please take clear photos of the package and contents, and email us at info@glitterunique.com.
Keep all packaging materials, as carriers may request them during a claim.
If you received incorrect items or are missing something, reach out—we’ll take care of it.
What is your return policy?
To protect the safety and purity of our cosmetic-grade materials, all items are final sale. Because every formula is unique, we offer many products in smaller trial sizes so you can test performance before purchasing larger quantities.
We're here to help!
Here are some professional tips on polish making that may be helpful to you. Experimenting with samples and different products is the best way to learn and understand the effects they produce. Always start with small amounts, using the smallest spoon size in our set, and add more as needed. Adding too much product initially can be difficult to correct, so it's advisable to swatch as you go.
Creating a Nail Polish Top Coat with Glitter
Creating a glitter nail polish top coat is straightforward. You will need empty bottles, a glitter suspension base, mixing balls, and glitter. Follow these steps:
- Add two mixing balls to the bottle.
- Add glitter and suspension base.
- Shake well.
Using our measuring spoons can simplify the process of adding glitter to a nail polish bottle. Different glitters require varying amounts, so start with a few small scoops and add more until the desired effect is achieved.
Basic Color Creation
For basic colors, we recommend our ProColor pigments, which are available in liquid or paste form for ease of use. These concentrates are designed to avoid clumping, common with matte pigments like lakes and ultramarines. ProColor pigments are highly concentrated and should be diluted with a suspension base. Some ProColors are thicker and may require additional base directly in the bottle for easier dispensing and to prevent drying out over time.
ProColors can be mixed together to create different shades. They are non-shimmery, but you can add glitter, flakes, or other pigments (such as pearlescent pigments or micas) to introduce shimmer or sparkle. To lighten any color, add our White ProColor, which generally produces crème polishes, while not using white will result in a jelly finish.
Using Micas and Pearlescent Pigments
Micas can also be used to create colored polishes, though they are typically very sheer and may require a significant amount of product for an opaque look. For vibrant, bright colors, we recommend our Pearlescent series, which are easy to use. Simply add a small amount to your bottle and base until the desired effect is achieved. Both micas and the Pearlescent series naturally have a shimmery finish.
Suspension Bases
- Glitter Suspension Base: Use this for polishes containing glitter. It is thicker and designed to suspend heavier particles.
- Mica Suspension Base: Ideal for polishes without glitter.
- Matte Suspension Base: Use this for matte polishes, to which you can add any additive.
Product Overview
- ProColor: Adds color.
- Mica: Adds color and shimmer.
- Pearlescent Pigments: Adds color and shimmer, and are richer in color than regular micas.
- Flakes: Adds flecks and sparkle to polishes, with some adding color as well.
- Shimmers: Adds shimmer to any creation; color depends on the specific shimmer used.
- Glitter: Adds sparkle to any creation, available in various sizes from .002” to .094”.
You can mix any of these products to create different looks. We always recommend purchasing small amounts and experimenting, as this hands-on approach is the most effective way to learn.
